It's okay. Cards are hard to insert and remove. Loosens up a bit after use. Transfer speeds are great, i just expected more from an official SanDisk product.

Isn't there a way to keep the reader attached to the laptop and just eject the sd card so that when I insert another SD card into the reader, the laptop sees the new SD Car...

meh, it works, but half speed Only used it with San Disk Extreme cards rated at 170. Runs about half speed on various usb c and thunderbolt ports. the internal reader on my laptop runs them at full speed.
