This lens for me fills two roles: one as a 55mm standard lens on my A7R, and as a 82.5mm lens on my A6300 making it the perfect portrait lens. I was really amazed by the details of this little lens when I take the first photo.... I have used a99 (135 f1.8, 70-200, 35 1.4), a77 (16-50) and many other cameras and prime lenses before but this lens sharpness beats every other lenses I've used to date.

I have actually heard complaints that this lens was TOO sharp...
This lens is one of the best on the market for all the attributes that can be measured. Not just the best Sony lens but one of best out of the tens of thousands of lenses that have ever been released by any manufacturer.

This lens will have you scrambling for the luminance slider in photoshop yes its that sharp. I shoot mainly portraits and this lens is the god of sharpness. For a camera enthusiast, the price is a lot to take in for a lens but with all the positive reviews and ratings by all the experts around the world made me bite the bullet to buy it for my A7.
